Would you like to live in another era?

Music, fashion, cars, decor and architecture.....is there a bygone era that you would like to be living in?

Having my photo taken by Brooke Orchard made me think about living life a few decades ago. I wonder would I actually have been as prim and proper as I look in this photo if I had grown up in the 40s?
I love how different I look in this photo compared to my normal humdrum everyday self! I love the shape and style of 40s and 50s clothes. They are very flattering to my body shape and there is an ever increasing number of items entering my collection from ModCloth in this style.
Sometimes I find it hard to feel comfortable dressed in a style from a bygone era that is just so different from everything else around me. The fashionistas wear peplum jackets and bold floral print jeans while I am prancing around in flared skirts and cinched in waists. How do you feel when you dress differently to the crowd? I don't do it to be different I just really like the cut of the clothes. Having said that I don't go out of my way to style myself in vintage fashion everyday (I don't think I have the wardrobe or confidence for that). More often than not you will find me in jeans, heels and a blazer when I am not in a high waisted skirt.
Back to the bygone era discussion: I love to bake pretty cakes and you guys know I LOVE to craft. Today people mock me and call me an old lady....in another era my pastimes would have been perfectly normal! Oh how times have changed!

So I will just keep crafting enjoying it all amongst the madness!

Does anyone wish they were still in the 80s? That was a fun decade! Pahaha!

  1. Sadly, I WAS around in the 80's and, while I LOVED the music of that era (totes new romantic) not ENTIRELY sure about the fashion...I would rather be a Dita Von Teese kinda chick with a few more 50's rather than 40's hints. That is a GREAT photo by the way and I am LOVING your blog, AWESOME!!!! Your fellow BYW student, kitty baroque

  3. AWESOME photo of you! I don't care about fitting in...I like to wear what's comfortable and what suits me. I personally love vintage and feel like I was born in the wrong era. I'm more of a Regency/Edwardian gal but I LOVE the 30's and 40's too. Love your blog!

  5. I'm with you on the 40's/50's, but I could even go back to the 20's/30's...only fashion wise though! :)
